International Burch University (IBU) has officially unveiled its newly redesigned interior spaces,
the result of a creative collaboration with global home furnishings leader IKEA. The project
reflects a shared vision to enrich the educational environment through thoughtful, functional,
and aesthetically driven design.
The redesign introduces a fresh and modern look across key areas of the university, including
student lounges, study zones, and common spaces. With a focus on flexibility, comfort, and
innovation, these areas were carefully furnished with IKEA’s contemporary and practical
solutions, embracing the principles of Scandinavian design. The new interior environment is not
only visually appealing but also purposefully built to support learning, collaboration, and student
well-being.
Led architecturally by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adnan Novalić, the project was tailored to align with IBU’s
long-term academic and spatial goals. The redesign supports the university’s mission to create
spaces that foster creativity, productivity, and a sense of community, while also emphasizing
sustainability and the evolving needs of students and faculty.
The collaboration has attracted international attention and is currently featured on IKEA’s global
platform as a benchmark for innovative design in higher education. It stands as a testament to
IBU’s commitment to staying ahead in reimagining what university spaces can look and feel like.
IBU extends its heartfelt appreciation to all contributors who played a part in bringing this vision
to life. This transformation marks a significant step forward in shaping a campus culture that
values not only academic excellence but also the quality of the physical spaces that support it.
